“The Diggler Patroller is a great community policing vehicle.”
— Sgt. Fred Lombardi, Gonzales Police Department, CA
"It absolutely lets us do our job and have a little fun along the way. We are able to get on and off bike paths with ease and we are able to blend in. It is so quiet that we have been able to ride right up to someone and actually affect an arrest, all due to the element of surprise."
— Chief of Police Annette M. Spicuzza, UC Davis Police Dept., CA
“We’ll especially use them to patrol routes to school and as a supplement to our foot patrols.”
— Chief Ken Hughes, Fairfax Police Department, CA
“The kids in the complexes just love to stop me and ask questions about the scooter. It’s a great conversation starter while trying to maintain an open dialogue and frequent interactions with city youth.”
— Sgt. Fred Lombardi, Gonzales Police Department, CA
“The officer was able to sneak up on the individual, make contact, determine that there was an outstanding warrant, and make the arrest.”
— Lt. Matt Carmichael, UC Davis Campus Police, CA
“We’re finding that it allows us to go from point A to point B with ease. It’s pretty handy, and very quiet.”
— Chief of Police Annette M. Spicuzza, UC Davis Police Dept., CA
“If I see a traffic holdup, I can cruise up to the source and see if I can be of assistance in getting things flowing again. I can’t navigate a traffic jam like that in a police cruiser.”
— Sgt. Fred Lombardi, Gonzales Police Department, CA
“They look great, they’re consistent with the feel of the town and they help make the local police more friendly.”
— Mimi Newton, Chairwoman of Fairfax Open Space Committee, CA
"The officers that are riding it are having fun with it and the public relations part is wonderful. It really gets individuals to ask us questions about the scooter (Diggler) which inevitably leads to other questions and information being shared."
— Chief of Police Annette M. Spicuzza, UC Davis Police Dept., CA
One more thing Sergeant Lombardi wants to point out to the community is the cruiser is virtually silent. What does this mean to people who tend to ignore the new “hands free” cell phone law? Watch out! "If your car window is rolled down, you may just hear a soft voice in your free ear politely ask you to “pull over to the right.”
— Sgt. Fred Lombardi, Gonzales Police Department, CA
“The convenience, not to mention the wanting to be more “green,” has been well received by both our officers and community members."
— Chief of Police Annette M. Spicuzza, UC Davis Police Dept., CA
